UNITWIN and UNESCO Chairs Programme

The UNITWIN / UNESCO Chairs Programme aims at capacity building in higher education and research institutions through the exchange of knowledge and inter-university collaboration, in a spirit of international solidarity. The aim is to transfer knowledge across borders (particularly North-South and South-South).

The UNITWIN / UNESCO Chairs programme was introduced in 1992 to advance research, teaching and training in all of UNESCO’s fields of competence (education, natural sciences, social and human sciences, culture, and communication and information).

Uitkomsten

Established in 1992, today over 700 UNESCO Chairs and 70 UNITWIN Networks are established within the Programme, involving over 840 institutions in 133 countries.
